Health

DH got a phone call Saturday morning from his brother. His brother told him that their youngest brother has been diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer. We had suspected something was wrong several months ago, but now we have confirmation. He’s been a smoker most if not all of his adult life. His voice started sounding raspy several months ago, and he kept excusing it as just a cold. He will be 58 in April. We don’t have any other details other than he has elected to have chemotherapy.

DH hasn’t talked about it at all with me since the phone call. He tends to keep things inside and doesn’t share his feelings with me. I know he’s worried about him. I just wish he would open up to me.

I haven’t weighed myself I don’t think since my last doctor’s appointment on December 16th. Then I had lost 9 1/2 lbs. since my last visit in September.

I stepped on the scales this morning and was shocked. I am now back down to the weight I was over 2 years ago after losing around 50 lbs. So I’ve lost about 7 more pounds since the 16th.

This is the first holiday season where I didn’t gain weight, but actually lost some. Sure do hope this is a good sign that I’ll be able to keep it up in the new year.

Day 2 of Healthy Eating

I’m really proud of myself today. No junk food at all today, unlike last night when I ate a bowl of Extreme Moose Tracks ice cream for dinner.
I had a big salad for lunch and dinner and strawberries as a snack this afternoon. Hope I can keep this up!

A rude awakening with the scales!

I’m a plus-size woman, actually a double plus-size woman. A little over two years ago, I had had enough of being what I considered to be a triple plus-size woman. So in January, I started eating healthier, and laid off the junk food. It took a few months, but I eventually lost about 50 pounds.
I [...]

Stress and Trying to Quit Smoking Do Not Mix

Well I made it several hours today without a cigarette with no problems. Then I had problems with the routers when I tried to move one to another room. After a couple of hours of no success, I was so stressed out I went out and bought some more cigs. Within 30 minutes I had [...]
