About Me

Okay, so who am I?

  • Wife - I’m a wife to a wonderful man, named Richard. We’ve been married over 21 years. Like all married couples, we’ve had our ups and downs, but at the end of the day I know that he loves and supports me completely.
  • Mother - I have two grown sons that mean the world to me. I am so proud of both of them.
  • Granny -  I have two grandchildren, Ayden and Kaylee. Kaylee was the first to be born in 2003, and Ayden was born in February 2008. They are both so very precious to me!
  • Sister - I am the oldest of three sisters with there being at least 10 1/2 years between us. I have a very close relationship with my sisters. Mama wanted us to take care of each other once she was gone.
  • Daughter - Having lost my mother in 2007, I’m lucky to still have my dad here with me although he doesn’t live close by. My step-father is still living close by and I try to keep a close eye on him.
  • Aunt - to four nephews and one niece. I’m not nearly as close as I’d like to be to them. The oldest nephew is in the army and returned from Iraq in July 2008 and two nephews live in Florida. The other nephew and niece are about 80 miles away so I don’t get to see them very often.

What’s my personality like?

  • I am more comfortable in small groups than large ones. It’s easier to build meaningful relationships.
  • Fundamentally all people are good. I try not to be influenced by pre-conceived assumptions on people. I like to get to know a person personally and then make my own determination.
  • I hate lying. Trust is very important to me and once someone lies to me, it’s very difficult to trust that person again.
  • I gain a lot of satisfaction when I’m able to help someone out.
  • Self-sufficient and self-motivated. I’ve always said I take after my father and very proud of the fact that I’m able to figure out how to do things. I’ve never had a flashing clock on my vcr. I like to know how things work. I’ve learned how to do plumbing, set-up a pond, build computers, learn new computer programs
  • Diligent, dedicated and detail oriented - I don’t give up easily. In fact sometimes I can be quite obsessive until I’m finally satisfied I have something right.
  • Even tempered for the most part. But I do have a temper to be reckoned with. I tend to have a short fuse when I extremely tired or stressed out.

Things I like:

  • Music - Country music, I also love oldies, new age and pop, and here lately some rock. It’s important though that I’m able to understand the lyrics.
  • Television - Sci-fi and am hooked on Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Eureka and Battlestar Galactica. Other favorite shows are Boston Legal, ER,  Smallville and American Idol. One more genre is soap operas. I’ve been watching Days of Our Lives almost since its debut. Other favorites are General Hospital, All My Children and One Life to Live.
  • Movies - Just about any with the exception of horror.

Things I like to do:

  • Family time - I love spending time with my family and try to do a family day every month.
  • Ponding - My husband put a pond in the backyard in 2004. I love to piddle around it, watch the fish grow and water lilies bloom. I’ve learned how to maintain it myself and the water is almost always crystal clear.
  • Computers - I consider myself to be pretty computer savvy. I’m not a hacker, and I don’t know very much in the way of programming. The first computer I ever bought was a Commodore 128, and I’ve been hooked on them since the mid 80’s. I’ve built them myself and even setup networks. I am self-taught on everything that I know and am quite proud of it. I love to learn new things. This website is part of that learning process.
  • Digital photography - This started when my granddaughter was born in 2003 and has continued to grow ever since. I’ve taken pictures that were taken in the 40’s and restored them. One of the newest things I’ve learned is how to create photo galleries for the internet.

I decided to try blogging as a way of expressing myself, and my sister was kind enough to set me up with this website. I use blogging whenever I feel there’s something important I want to say, want to rant a little or just share my thoughts with someone. I guess you could say my blog is my therapy.
